School security that holds up when the lockdown is real.
Tec-Tel designs, installs, and runs the cameras, visitor management, and lockdown integration K-12 schools, districts, and higher-ed campuses depend on. We build to NSGP, NPSE, and SVPP grant scope, so the funding covers the upgrade. FERPA-aligned throughout.
- NDAA-compliant
- Platform-agnostic

§01 What we install in education
The system a director of safety relies on.
Once a school is commissioned, the drill stops being improvised. Here's what your principal, resource officer, and IT team work with from day one.
§ How we work
A school with multiple entries and no real visitor workflow has gaps an audit will find. We install at every door, integrate with your existing safety platform, and rehearse the lockdown drill with your resource officer before it ever sees a live event.

§02 How a Tec-Tel deployment works
Five steps, one accountable team.
Walk every building before we quote
No quote-by-floorplan. We come on site, talk to your facilities and safety leads, document what's in the ceiling, and check your current grant scope.
Design to the grant
NSGP, NPSE, SVPP scopes vary by program and year. We design the install package to satisfy your specific grant award before submitting the BOM.
Sequence around the school calendar
Summer break is the install window. Spring break and winter break handle phase rollouts. We never run cabling during instructional hours.
Tune analytics for school contexts
Behavior analytics need on-site calibration in schools (hallway crowding patterns differ from any other vertical), until the false-positive rate is low enough to trust.
Hand off with a runbook + drill
Your team gets a written ops doc and we participate in a lockdown drill. Resource officer, front office, IT all rehearse the integration before it ever sees a live event.
§03 What a Tec-Tel install looks like
Three school shapes. Three different stacks.
A single building, a district, and a college campus each draw the line somewhere different. Here are the three shapes we deploy most, and what each one runs.
One building, 600-1,500 students, single administrator
- → Visitor management + anti-tailgating at every entry
- → Camera coverage of hallways, cafeteria, parking, bus loop
- → One-button lockdown integrated with PA + access control
- → Designed to satisfy NSGP / NPSE / SVPP grant scope
10-40 schools, central office, mixed building ages
- → Standardized camera spec across schools
- → Central VMS with role-based access per school + per district admin
- → District-wide visitor blocklist + custody-order alerts
- → Phased rollout sequenced by summer schedule
College or university, 5K-30K students, residential mix
- → Blue-light phones integrated with VMS + dispatch
- → Clery Act-aligned camera coverage of campus + parking
- → Card access in residential buildings tied to enrollment status
- → LPR on lots + perimeter routes, threat-detection in commons
§04 Compliance buyers ask us about
Frameworks we build to.
Camera footage that captures identifiable students is FERPA-regulated. We segment storage, configure retention to district policy, and limit VMS access to staff with a documented educational interest.
Federal + state security grants for nonprofits, faith-based schools, K-12 private + public. We design install packages to satisfy your specific grant scope before submitting the BOM.
Higher-ed campus crime reporting. Camera coverage and retention designed to support the annual security report and timely-warning workflow.
Documented camera coverage of athletic facilities, common areas, and high-risk zones. Retention long enough to support a Title IX inquiry timeline.

FAQ
- How much does a K-12 school security upgrade cost?
- It depends on building size, the number of buildings, and existing infrastructure. A district phases the cost across summers. The bigger point: NSGP, NPSE, and SVPP grants can cover the full upgrade for eligible schools. We design to the grant scope before submitting the BOM, so the award carries the cost.
- Can grants pay for our security upgrade?
- Often, yes. NSGP (federal, up to $200K per nonprofit or faith-based site, FY 2025), NPSE (NY state, $70M for Year 12 / FY 2024-25 for nonpublic schools, allocated per-pupil), and SVPP (federal, up to $500K per award and 75% of project cost, FY 2025) routinely cover full upgrades. We design around the grant scope and help with the application, no extra charge for the BOM and write-up.
- How does this work with FERPA?
- Camera footage that captures identifiable students can be FERPA-regulated. We segment storage from administrative systems, set retention to district policy (typically 30 to 60 days), and limit VMS access to staff with a documented educational interest. No third-party sharing without parent consent.
- Can you install during the school year?
- Summer break is the install window for major work. Spring and winter breaks handle phase rollouts. We don't run cabling during instructional hours. Service work and minor adds can happen during the year with district approval.
- Do you integrate with our existing safety platform?
- Yes for most modern platforms. Visitor management bridges to Raptor or Ident-A-Kid via standard API. Lockdown integration with CrisisGo, Centegix, or your district paging platform uses event-based bridging. No claim of vendor partnership; integration runs on published APIs.
