Security equipment and installation for your property
- Visitor intercoms at the front desk. A video intercom can help staff see and speak with a visitor before releasing a controlled door. We discuss where calls should arrive, how staff will identify the right entrance, and what happens outside reception hours. If several departments share the property, map the call destination for each. We confirm the available routing and release functions with the selected equipment.
- Access control readers beyond reception. A visitor may need to reach a waiting room without entering staff-only corridors or storage. We install card, fob, and supported mobile access systems around those boundaries. Start with employee roles and hours, then decide what each role can open. For existing doors, we inspect the lock and controller before recommending changes. The building’s door and life-safety requirements still need to be addressed by the appropriate project professionals.
- Security camera placement and recording. Decide what the recording needs to show: a person arriving at reception, a delivery reaching the correct door, or activity in a common corridor. We assess lighting, mounting, and storage against that purpose. We also discuss privacy-sensitive areas and limit camera views to the agreed spaces. More cameras are not a substitute for knowing which event you need to understand.
- Video and access-control software configuration. The person maintaining staff credentials may not be the person allowed to export video. We configure supported permissions accordingly and document who owns each task. If several locations use a shared platform, discuss which functions are managed centrally and which stay with the site. Integration with an existing system is assessed, not assumed from a matching brand name.
- Visitor intercom and door-access planning. Write down what happens when a person arrives early, goes to the wrong department, or needs assistance at the entrance. Include deliveries and cleaners in the same exercise. Identify who can answer each type of call and who is authorized to open the door. This simple list helps us select a supported call and entry process that works when the main reception contact is unavailable.
Products Tec-Tel installs and configures
Projects can include the equipment and services below. We assess your site and existing systems before confirming the products, installation work, and support in your proposal.
- Security camera installation - Indoor and outdoor cameras, network video recorders, and video storage. We mount cameras, run cable, configure recording, and test the view at each location.
- Access control installation - Card and fob readers, electronic door locks, controllers, credentials, and management software. We install the selected equipment and configure who can enter each door and when.
- Video management systems - Software for live camera viewing, recording playback, video export, and user permissions. We configure supported cloud, on-site, or hybrid systems and check existing camera compatibility.
- AI video software - Software that searches recordings or flags selected activity for review. We assess equipment compatibility, configure the selected functions, and test them against the project requirements.
- Structured cabling - Cat6, Cat6A, fiber, racks, patch panels, and network connections for cameras, doors, phones, and business networks. We install, label, test, and document the cabling.
- Business phone systems - Business phones, VoIP service configuration, call routing, and paging. We coordinate the equipment, network readiness, installation, testing, and staff transition.
Monitoring, entry, and video software solutions
- Remote video monitoring - Connect compatible cameras to a monitoring service, with event review and response instructions defined for the property.
- Visitor and contractor management - Plan visitor entry, intercom calls, and supported door-access permissions around the people who approve access.
- License plate recognition - Select cameras and software for reading vehicle plates. Camera position, lighting, vehicle speed, and system compatibility determine suitability.
- Workplace safety video analytics - Assess software for selected safety events, such as PPE or forklift activity, and configure alerts for staff review. Detection depends on the selected system and conditions.
- Complete security system installation and support - Coordinate cameras, door access, video software, cabling, and selected monitoring or maintenance services in one project scope.

Give visitors a clear entrance and staff controlled access
Rutgers describes the HELIX in downtown New Brunswick as bringing research, healthcare, and education together. It is one example of the different activities sharing the city’s downtown environment. At a property that receives visitors throughout the day, security should support a clear route from the entrance to the right destination. Public reception, employee work areas, and delivery access may need different treatment. We plan for your building’s actual use rather than assuming all doors should operate alike.
From design through service
- Map the people using the building. Include reception, employees, cleaners, visiting professionals, and deliveries. Tell us which doors cause confusion or get left open. A simple list of routes and hours is more useful than a camera count alone.
- Review the installed system. We assess cameras, recording equipment, door hardware, network connections, and available cable paths. If you have a facilities or IT contact, include them early so responsibilities and access to existing equipment are clear.
- Test the visitor journey. During commissioning, check the intercom call, door release, staff credential, and intended camera view. Test the normal daytime setup and the agreed after-hours behavior rather than relying only on an equipment power-on check.
- Hand over clear instructions. We walk the responsible users through the agreed everyday tasks and support process. Document who removes access when a person leaves and who can preserve footage when an incident needs review.
