What drives the spread, by vertical

The same camera mounted in a hospital ICU and a strip-mall convenience store doesn't cost the same to install. Here's why.

Manufacturing & warehousing

High-bay mounting, conduit through dock zones, fiber backbones across multi-acre campuses. AI analytics for forklift proximity and PPE compliance push the per-camera number to the upper end.

Retail (multi-location)

Per-store budgets are tight, but rollouts past 25 stores get list-price tiers and amortize design. PCI-DSS Requirement 9 camera coverage is non-negotiable in card-data zones.

Healthcare

HIPAA-aware policy, network segmentation, longer retention windows, BAAs with cloud video providers. Hardware is similar to retail; soft cost is 2-3x higher.

Education

FERPA-aware role-based access, NSGP and SVPP grant documentation, exterior lighting work for school perimeters. K-12 installs are commonly grant-funded.

Hospitality

Guest-area placement is constrained by privacy expectations. Property management system integration and front-desk camera coverage are the cost drivers.

Government & municipal

NDAA Section 889 procurement compliance, GSA schedule pricing, longer commissioning cycles. Public-sector budgets land high because documentation work compounds.

Where Tec-Tel's installs land in these ranges

Tec-Tel has been a nationwide security integrator for over 15 years (Tec-Tel company background). We don't publish per-customer pricing, but our commercial camera, access, monitoring, and multi-site rollout scopes sit inside the public ranges above. Treat the public ranges as your planning number, then compare them against the security camera installation cost guide and the installation services scope before you commit to a budget.
